Rosarito
Medical Outreach — May 31st, 2008
By Deanna Thomas
In May 2008
Calvary Chapel Pasadena had the opportunity to return
to Rosarito, Mexico to serve the people with a medical
outreach.
As we arrived
that Saturday at the location, it was an amazing sight
to see the families from the community and neighboring
communities lined up and waiting patiently to enter.
The members of CCP were putting the final touches on
setting up the site, and preparing for a day filled
with various activities and services. The gates were
opened and the people poured in. Almost immediately,
every corner of the site was filled with kids, adults
and even their pets.
Many served
in a variety of different areas throughout the day.
Some served in the kitchen preparing food while others
gave haircuts. What a blessing the doctors, dentists,
chiropractors, serving tirelessly throughout the day.
Evangelistic skits were performed, worship played and
messages were given which provided a powerful and clear
presentation of the gospel and how Jesus Christ has
the power to save sinners and transform lives. It was
an incredible sight to witness people of all ages accepting
the Lord. It was a huge blessing and honor to serve
the people of Rosarito. Something special happens to
believers when they are given an opportunity to serve
the Lord outside of their usual surroundings. Traveling
to a foreign country definitely tests and removes us
from our comfort zones and presents unusual ways for
the Lord to use us. The lord reveals to us our God given
gifts that so many of us would never have used or discovered
under normal circumstances. My prayer is that we may
all rise to our call and serve God.
Let
your light so shine before men, that they may see your
good works and glorify your Father in Heaven —
Matthew 5:16
